The Amygdala ages

The post before this wished my readers goodbye as I continued wearily on my lonely multiple-dating sojourn. I’d felt that I had nothing left to say about dating, that there was nothing left to experience if all that stretched in front of me was more of the same.

Suddenly though, when I entered my 50th year I was struck by a piece of good fortune! I finally was to meet my constant true love and so the dating experiments and experiences gradually came to an end. Elsewhere in blogosphere I might have documented some of this return to monogamy.

Not all of it is a bed of roses. Alas, being so contented in matters of the heart led to the inevitable piling on of weight and what is more, being on this side of 50 reminds me of my mortality.

I never really took dieting seriously until the doctor said my lifestyle and eating and drinking habits needed an overhaul. Over the years I’ve tried to heed this advice. Indeed over the lockdown period I managed to keep fairly healthy but then fell off the wagon again.

Having recently returned from my motherland, the land of plentiful unhealthy and delicious dishes I’m determined to steer onto the path of righteous living again. To that end, brekkie began with a black coffee followed by about 45 minutes walking over some 5800 steps, nearly 3 miles to return home to a bowl of oatmeal, oat bran, banana and yoghurt.

It is only Sunday and I will go for another walk later in the afternoon. This blog will now take a different turn as I try and document my efforts at keeping healthy.
